Frenchic – Finishing Coat

A top coat with a soft sheen finish.

Finishing Coat is a water based, eco-friendly sealant, which provides a more durable finish than wax. It has a soft sheen and is great for protecting items of furniture that get a lot of use, as well as those prone to water splashes.

Painted an item of furniture with paint from our Original Artisan Range? You’ll now need to seal it to protect it from any potential damage. Here’s how:

Make sure your painted item is fully dry.

Shake the bottle and pour some into a small receptacle.

Dip a clean, dry sponge into the Finishing Coat and wipe off any excess. Apply a layer directly onto the painted surface using a even, smooth, brushing motion.

Wait 30 minutes for the first coat to dry and then apply a second coat.

You can use Finishing Coat and Waxes independently or together, but if using together, you must apply the Finishing Coat first! For example, if you are using a brown wax to create an aged look, seal the item with the Finishing Coat before adding colour with the wax.

If you love a bit of glitz and glamour, you can mix Finishing Coat with one of the Frensheen mineral powders to create a metallic paint. Here’s how:

Decant some of the powder into a small receptacle. Choose from a choice of five different colours – Beautiful Bronze, Cool Copper, Gorgeous Gold, Green Goddess and Sexy Silver.

Add a small amount of Finishing Coat and stir well until there’s no powder left. You want to create a liquid, paint-like consistency.

Using a brush, simply paint the mixture onto your chosen item for a shimmery finish. The best part – there’s no need for further sealant.

For something a little different, why not get creative and try your hand at decoupage? You can easily add a paper image of your choice, like wrapping paper or a napkin, onto almost any surface using the versatile Finishing Coat. Here’s how:

Position the paper image onto your chosen surface to make sure it fits. If you’re using a decorated napkin, you’ll want to remove the excess layers of paper underneath – you just need the layer on which the image is printed.

Pour some Finishing Coat into a small receptacle and use a stiff sponge to apply it. You want to use a good amount of product and press it into the paper quite firmly, so that it absorbs fully and sticks to the painted surface beneath. If you apply too much, simply dab off any excess with the dry side of the sponge. If your image is on a thicker paper, you may find it helpful to apply a layer of Finishing Coat to the surface of the furniture first.

Once you’ve applied the first coat, leave to dry and the apply a second coat later to protect it. Don’t worry if at first the surface of the item looks a milky white colour, it dries fully transparent.

Tuff Top Coat – a water based, heavy duty sealant with a flat matte finish.

Robust with increased heat resistance.

It provides very hard wearing protective coating for kitchen cupboards, worktops, tables and wood floors.

It seals porous vertical surfaces such as concrete, unglazed tiles and brickwork.

Environmentally friendly composition, ISO 11998 Class 1 Wet Scrub rating, EN71-3 compliance and no added VOCs, it’s  perfect for children’s toys.

Use to seal Frenchic Original Artisan Range where a tough matte alternative to wax is desired or mix with metallic Frensheens to add pizazz to projects.

Suitable for internal and external use.

How to use Tuff Top Coat:

Make sure the painted item is fully dry.

Shake the bottle and pour some into a small receptacle.

Dip a clean, dry sponge into Tuff Top Coat and wipe off any excess. Apply a layer directly onto the painted surface using a even, smooth, brushing motion.

Wait 30 minutes for first coat to dry then apply a second coat.

Tuff Top Coat and Waxes can be used independently or together but if using together, apply Tuff Top Coat first.

For a bit of glitz and glamour mix Tuff Top Coat with one of the Frensheen mineral powders to create a metallic paint.

Frensheen mixed with TTC:

Decant some powder into a small receptacle. Choose from five different colours – Beautiful Bronze, Cool Copper, Gorgeous Gold, Green Goddess and Sexy Silver.

Add a small amount of Tuff Top Coat and stir well until there’s no powder left. Create a liquid, paint-like consistency.

Use a brush, paint the mixture onto the item for a shimmery finish.

Decoupage:

Excellent for decoupage. Add a paper image, like wrapping paper or a napkin.

Position the paper image onto the surface to make sure it fits. Remove excess layers from a decorated napkin, you just need the printed image.

Pour some Tuff Top Coat into a small receptacle, use a stiff sponge to apply. Use a good amount of product and press it into the paper quite firmly, so that it absorbs fully and sticks to the painted surface beneath. If you apply too much, dab off any excess with the dry side of the sponge. If your image is on thicker paper apply a layer of Tuff Top Coat to the surface of the furniture first.

Leave first coat, to dry, apply a second coat later to protect it. Don’t worry if at first the surface of the item looks a milky white colour, it dries fully transparent.

Bond-it PVA (2.5L)

A plasticised, premium PVA resin emulsion with good adhesion to porous materials.

Features:

  • A high solids, high performance sealer, primer, dust-proofer and bonding agent
  • Improves adhesion and reduces cracking in cements and plaster
  • Primes and seals porous surfaces
  • Quick drying, durable and has a very high bond strength
  • Better water resistance, adhesion and flexibility
  • Excellent drying at low temperatures
  • Phthalate free formulation (safer to use)
  • Can be readily diluted without compromising quality
  • Conforms to BS5270

Uses:

PVA BOND ADHESIVE & SEALER can be used with plaster, cement, timber, gypsum wall boards and paper. It is also a readily dilutable primer for sealing applications or addition to cement and plaster to improve adhesion and cure.

Preparation:

All surfaces must be clean, dry, sound and free from dust, grease or contaminants that may hinder adhesion. Remove all loose material and ensure underlying material is strong enough to take the weight or load to be applied. If required, a sealing/priming coat should be applied and allowed to dry thoroughly prior to the application of ADHESIVE/SEALER.
