Rustins – Quick Dry Indoor Varnish – Matt – 250ml – 500ml – 1L – Clear.
Rustins Quick Dry Varnish is a water-based, self-crosslinking, acrylic emulsion.
The varnish looks milky-white whilst liquid but dries to a hard, durable transparent finish, resistant to water and alcohol. Available in clear satin and matt finish.
Intended Use:
Interior, bare woodwork, cork, hardboard.
It can also be used as a sealer for concrete, brickwork and plaster.
Special Features:
Low odour, quick-drying, non-yellowing on ageing.
Wash brushes in water directly after use.
The varnish has very little effect on the colour of wood to which it is applied, allowing the original grain to show through.
Conforms to Safety of Toys Regulations BS EN 71 Part 3 1995.
Preparation:
Surfaces must be clean and previous coatings should be removed with Rustin’s Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper.
It is advisable to clean old surfaces with White Spirit to remove any wax or contamination, wipe away the solution formed with clean kitchen paper towels.
Application:
Stir well before use.
Satin and Matt finishes may dry glossy if not thoroughly stirred, check for settlement on the bottom of the tin and stir to mix-in.
Use a synthetic brush, varnish Roller or spray (can be diluted with water about 10% if necessary for spraying, or if the temperature is high).
Coats – 2 or 3. Lightly sand after 1st coat to flatten any raised grain.
Drying Time – Touch dry in 20 minutes typically, depending on temperature and humidity.
Re-coating Time – Re-coat after 2 hours
Application Temperature – Ideally 15-25°C, do not use below 10°C or in conditions of high humidity.
Coverage – 12-15 m2/litre per coat, depending on absorbency of surface.
Maintenance – The varnish will take 3 days to fully harden, so treat gently for the first few days.
Spills should be wiped-up immediately during this time to prevent damage.
The surface can be cleaned as required with a mild detergent solution, do not use aggressive cleaning products.
Re-coat the varnish as necessary, after cleaning and lightly sanding the surface.
Shelf-life/Storage:
Many years if stored in normal conditions. Protect from frost.
